Hey, do y'all remember Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens? That popular southern fiction novel with a movie adaptation coming out very soon? The one in which the heroine is accused of a murder, and in which several Black people are portrayed in a rather overtly racist manner?

Well, according to a thoroughly-researched article by Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic, the author is wanted for murdering someone in Zambia in the 90’s, and there is a great deal of proof. In fact, Goldberg posits that details of the murder may have inspired the narrative of Owens’ novel.

Do not go see the movie adaptation of this book. Cancel any plans you have to do so. It is not worth supporting this person.
